A real Doncaster test route, real timings and a real DVSA marking sheet, without the real consequences. The debrief afterwards tells you exactly what would have failed you, so you can fix it before your practical driving test.
Your instructor runs the mock test the way a DVSA examiner would. The practical test involves around 35 minutes of driving, including 20 to 35 minutes of independent driving following a sat nav or road signs. You may be asked to pull over, pull out from behind a parked vehicle, do a hill start and possibly an emergency stop, plus one reversing manoeuvre such as parallel parking or bay parking. You will also answer two vehicle safety questions: one tell me question before you drive and one show me question while driving.
To pass the real test you need no more than 15 driving faults and no serious or dangerous faults. Your mock test is marked to the same standard.
Most of our learners take their practical test at the Doncaster driving test centre at Heather Court, Shaw Wood Way, DN2 5YL. The mock test uses the roads, junctions and roundabouts around the test centre so nothing on test day comes as a surprise.
Among the faults DVSA examiners record most often are:
A mock test shows which of these you need to work on, so you can practise them with your driving instructor before your test date.
Learners with a driving test booked in the next few weeks, and anyone who has failed before and wants an honest view of whether they are ready. A mock test is also a good way to manage test-day nerves: once you have done it under test conditions, the real thing feels familiar. Nervous? See our lessons for nervous drivers.
Your instructor goes through every fault on the marking sheet with you and agrees a plan to fix them before the real test. If the mock test shows you are not quite ready, it is better to know now than on test day. Learners in manual driving and automatic driving lessons both get the same debrief and the same honest view of their readiness, so you can prepare with confidence and build the driving skills you need to pass your driving test.
A mock driving test usually takes two hours including the debrief. Call 07402 034084 for details and availability. Mock tests are included in our intensive driving courses.
