An intensive driving course condenses months of weekly lessons into a focused block of a week or two. We assess your driving first, then build a realistic crash course in a manual or automatic car and book a practical driving test to match.
Crash courses suit learners with a deadline: a new job, a move away or a test date already booked. They work best if you can commit to several hours of driving a day and take it all in. If daily lessons sound like too much, regular weekly lessons with the same instructor may suit you better, and you can always switch later.
A fully intensive course packs your driving tuition into consecutive days. A semi-intensive course spreads the same hours over a few weeks, with longer lessons several times a week. Semi-intensive can suit beginners and learners who want time to take things in between lessons, while experienced learners who are close to test standard often prefer a fully intensive course. Your free assessment drive helps decide which is right for you.
You must pass your theory test before you can book a practical driving test, so the theory pass needs to be in place before an intensive course is finalised. The theory test includes a multiple choice section and a hazard perception section, and many learners revise for it while their course is being planned.
Day one starts with a warm-up drive in a dual controlled car, then your instructor talks you through the plan agreed after your assessment, covering every part of the test. Beginners spend the first lessons on quiet roads building core driving skills, while learners with more driving experience move straight onto test routes. Whether you are a beginner or returning to driving after a break, the aim is the same: get on the road safely and reach test standard as efficiently as possible.
Intensive courses are priced on assessment, because the honest price depends on how much driving you have already done. Lessons start from £60 for 1.5 hours in a manual car and £65 in an automatic, and your course quote will set out exactly how many hours we recommend. There is no joining fee. See our driving lesson prices.
Our intensive driving courses run in both manual and automatic dual controlled cars. An automatic course can often reach test standard in fewer hours because there is no clutch to master, but an automatic pass only covers automatic cars. Read more about manual lessons and automatic lessons.
We run intensive driving courses across Doncaster and the surrounding areas, with pick-up from your door. Most learners take their practical test at the Doncaster driving test centre at Heather Court, Shaw Wood Way, DN2 5YL, and we also prepare learners for tests at Rotherham and Worksop. Have your provisional driving licence and theory pass certificate ready when you book. See every area we cover.
No driving school can honestly guarantee a pass, and you should be wary of any that does. What we can promise is a realistic course length, an experienced DVSA approved instructor and preparation on the roads around the Doncaster driving test centre. If you don't pass first time, we will look at the faults on your test sheet and plan the next steps with you.
