If you want to pass quickly and can give driving several hours a day, an intensive course could suit you. Kirk Sandall is a particularly good place to do one, because the Doncaster test centre is only a mile or two south of the suburb, off Thorne Road, so very little course time is lost travelling.
On an intensive course every hour counts. From most streets in the suburb, the drive to the Shaw Wood Business Park area takes only a few minutes along Doncaster Road and Barnby Dun Road. That means more of your course is spent on the roundabouts at Clay Lane and Shaw Lane, and on Wheatley Hall Road, where the driving is closest to what you will meet on test.
The suburb has two other things going for it. Kirk Sandall station gives college students an easy way to get to a pick-up point, and if you work shifts on the industrial estate off Century Close, your days off can be turned into long lesson blocks.
Every intensive course starts with a free assessment drive. Your instructor collects you, sees how you drive (or, if you are brand new, how you take to the controls) and talks through what you want to achieve. Only then do we suggest a course length, because a learner who already handles Doncaster Road well needs far fewer hours than someone sitting behind the wheel for the first time.
The course is priced after this assessment, so you know exactly what you are signing up to. Our prices page explains how lessons are charged, and the main intensive driving courses page has more on how they work.
Your practical test is booked as part of the course, but DVSA will only let you book it once you have passed your theory test. If you have not done that yet, book it on GOV.UK and sit it first. The Doncaster theory test centre is at Fraser House on Netherhall Road, a short train ride away into Doncaster from Kirk Sandall station.
This is only an example for someone who already has some experience. Complete beginners usually need a longer course spread over more days, and the timetable always follows your progress, never the other way round.
If you can only manage the odd hour, weekly lessons will suit you better. Neighbours in the next village can book intensive driving courses in Barnby Dun, and learners to the east look at intensive driving courses in Hatfield. Before your test, a mock driving test in Kirk Sandall is a sensible last check, and the Kirk Sandall driving lessons page lists everything else.

Yes, and many students do. Get your theory test passed before the holidays begin, then book a free assessment drive so we can plan the course. Summer is popular, so it helps to get in touch early if you have a particular week in mind.
No school can promise a pass, and a fail on a short course is a setback rather than a disaster. We sit down with the examiner's marking sheet, pick out the faults that cost you and plan a few targeted lessons on the roads around Long Sandall before you rebook.
They can be, which is why we build in proper breaks. Concentration drops after a long stint, so we stop for food and a rest, and we vary the roads to keep things fresh. Tell your instructor if you are flagging and we will adjust.
Usually, yes. Tell us your rota when you book the assessment drive and we will try to plan lesson blocks around your days off. If you work on the Kirk Sandall Industrial Estate, we can collect you straight from work.
