If you want to pass quickly, an intensive course squeezes months of weekly lessons into a short, focused block. From Mexborough it begins with a free assessment drive. Once we have seen you drive, we set the length of the course and book your practical test.
We collect you from home anywhere in S64. If you have driven before, the assessment usually takes in Windhill and the town centre so your instructor can see how you handle steering and observation at junctions. If you are a complete beginner, it happens on quiet streets off Harlington Road instead.
Afterwards your instructor recommends a course length. The course is priced after the assessment, and you can see how our prices and packages are laid out. Your practical test is booked as part of the course, but you must have passed your theory test first, so book the theory test early if it is still to do.
Mexborough is on the far side of the borough from the Doncaster test centre on Shaw Wood Business Park, roughly nine miles away in a straight line. With weekly lessons it is hard to spend much time over there. An intensive course solves that, because a long day has room for the drive across and still leaves hours for proper practice once you arrive.
The run itself is valuable. Doncaster Road through Denaby Main leads to Conisbrough, then the A630 carries you through Warmsworth and Balby towards the east side of the city. Few areas give you that much variety on the way to the test centre.
Every day is planned around what you need, so the order changes as you improve. Towards the end of the course most of the time goes on roads like those around the test centre.
An intensive course is demanding. Several hours a day behind the wheel is tiring, and it suits people who can commit to that. If nerves are your main problem, nervous driver lessons in Mexborough may be a better starting point.
Friends a few minutes away can follow similar plans through intensive driving courses in Conisbrough or intensive courses in Denaby Main. The general details are on our intensive driving courses page. Many courses end with a mock driving test in Mexborough a day or two before the real thing, and the Mexborough driving lessons page covers everything else.
We'll ring you back within the day. If it's urgent, call 07402 034084.
Leave your name and number and we'll ring you back within the day to talk through lessons in Mexborough and the times that suit you.
You can have the assessment drive and start lessons without it, but the practical test cannot be taken until you have passed the theory test. Because the practical is booked as part of the course, it makes sense to sit the theory at Fraser House in Doncaster before the course begins.
Talk to us about what you can manage. Intensive courses work best for people who can drive for several hours a day. If you can only fit in a few hours a week, regular lessons with a block booking may suit you better, and you can switch to a more intensive plan later.
Wherever suits you. Most learners are picked up from home in Mexborough, but we can also start from your workplace or from Dearne Valley College, and finish somewhere different if that helps. Let us know the plan for each day when we book the course.
Your instructor will be honest with you. If you are not at test standard as the date gets close, we will talk through the options, which might mean adding hours or moving the test. Sitting a test you are not ready for wastes the fee and can knock your confidence, so it is always worth that conversation.
