An intensive driving course in Auckley packs your learning into a short, concentrated block. It begins with a free assessment drive from home, after which we can tell you how long the course should be, what it will cost and roughly when your practical test could fit in.
Nobody can honestly price an intensive course without seeing you drive, so ours start with an assessment. Your instructor collects you in the village and spends the drive watching how you handle real conditions. If you have never driven, that might simply mean a first go on the quiet estate roads near Spey Drive. Learners who already have some hours behind them can expect Main Street and probably the roundabout where Hurst Lane meets the Great Yorkshire Way.
Afterwards you get a clear picture of where you are. We set the length of the course from that drive and price it then, so you are paying for the hours you actually need. Our general rates and packages are on the prices page, and the main intensive driving courses page explains the format in more detail.
A practical test can only be booked by someone who already holds a theory pass, so this is the first thing we ask about. If you have not sat it yet, book it on GOV.UK straight away and tell us the date. Doncaster's theory test centre is at Fraser House on Netherhall Road, in the city centre, which is a straightforward bus ride from Auckley on the routes that run into Doncaster Interchange.
Once the theory is done, the practical test is booked as part of your course. The test itself takes place at the Shaw Wood Business Park centre on the Armthorpe side of the city, so the later days of your course include plenty of driving on that side of Doncaster.
Every course is planned around the learner, but a typical day of several hours might be split up like this, with proper breaks between sessions.
Long days are tiring, and tired drivers make mistakes. Your instructor will watch for that and switch to a debrief or a lighter drive when concentration dips.
An intensive course is a big commitment, and it is not right for everyone. If you would struggle to set aside several hours a day, regular weekly lessons from Auckley with a block booking may suit you better. We will say so honestly after the assessment.
Towards the end of a course, a full mock driving test from Auckley shows if you are ready, marked on the DVSA sheet. Learners who live a little further west can look at intensive driving courses in Rossington, and those in the next village can book intensive courses in Finningley. We decide that after the free assessment drive, because it depends entirely on your current level. A complete beginner needs far more hours than someone who has already had lessons. You will get a recommended length and price before you commit to anything.
Yes, and it is a popular time. Book your theory test early in the year so the pass is ready, then contact us about summer dates. Practical test availability varies, so the earlier we plan, the better the chance of fitting everything in.
You can start the assessment without it, but you need a theory pass before the practical test can be booked. If your theory is still to come, we may plan the course around your theory date.
Your instructor will be honest with you. If you are not at a safe standard, it is usually better to move the test than to take it unprepared. We will talk through the options with you, including extra lessons.
