Choosing a male driving instructor
Some learners ask for a male instructor because they have learned with one before and want to carry on in the same way. Others simply feel more at ease, or have a family preference. Plenty more do not mind either way and care far more about teaching style, such as whether they want an instructor who explains the reasoning behind every decision or one who keeps things light and chatty. Tell us what matters to you and we will match you with an instructor who fits.
All our male instructors are DBS checked, and most are DVSA approved driving instructors (ADIs). They teach in dual controlled, fully insured cars and work to the same lesson plans, so whoever you book with you are preparing for the same test.
Meet the team
Alexandru co-founded Alma and manages the school as well as teaching. Driving is a real passion for him and he wants lessons to be something you enjoy, with room for conversation in the car.
Alecsandru is an Approved Driving Instructor teaching automatic lessons. He has been driving for over 20 years and taught at a college before becoming an instructor, which shows in his clear instructions and steady feedback, particularly with younger learners.
Bogdan teaches manual lessons and is one of the names that comes up most in our Google reviews. Learners describe him as calm and patient, and he is good at rebuilding confidence after a bad experience elsewhere.
Sergiu has been driving for 15 years. When you make a mistake he will never shout; instead he works through why it happened, so it is less likely to happen again.
FoFo (Alexandru Fonoage) is calm, approachable and especially good with nervous learners, who never feel rushed in his car.
Nick focuses on understanding the road. He wants you to spot hazards early and to know the reason behind each decision you make.
Manual and automatic lessons
If you want a licence that covers any car, manual lessons are the way to go, and Bogdan is one of the instructors who teaches them. If the clutch is putting you off, automatic lessons with Alecsandru take gear changes out of the picture so you can concentrate on observation and road position. Passing in an automatic gives you an automatic-only licence, which suits many people who only ever plan to drive one.
When you book, tell us which you would prefer and roughly where you live. We will let you know which instructors cover your area in that type of car, and when they have space.
Across Doncaster and the villages
Our male instructors cover the whole of our area, from Wheatley, Intake and Cantley to Bentley and Sprotbrough, and out to Hatfield, Tickhill and Adwick-le-Street. Every lesson starts and finishes wherever suits you, whether that is home, work, school or college.
Before test day we make sure you have driven the kind of roads you will meet around the Doncaster driving test centre on Shaw Wood Business Park, and a mock test shows you exactly where you stand.
