Refresher driving lessons in Tickhill help full licence holders get back behind the wheel with confidence. Each lesson is built around what you actually need, whether that is the run into Doncaster, the motorway near Wadworth or simply driving through the Market Place again without dreading it.
Refresher lessons have no test at the end. You can book a single lesson or several, and change the plan as you go.
Drivers coming from a city often find country roads the biggest change. Stripe Road through Hesley and Worksop Road heading south are single carriageway roads with bends and field entrances, where you may meet the occasional farm vehicle. Out here the national speed limit may apply, yet the right speed is often much lower.
We work on reading the road ahead, positioning for bends, using passing places and gateways sensibly and keeping a safe gap behind slow vehicles. East of the town the A631 passes under the A1(M) and crosses the River Torne on the way to Bawtry, which is good practice at steady, open-road speeds. Wet leaves and mud near field entrances can make the surface slippery in autumn, so we talk about stopping distances too.
Tell us where you drive day to day and we will build lessons around those exact roads, including the car parks and side streets at the end of them.
Parking catches out many returning drivers. Around the Market Place and North Gate spaces can be tight, so we practise parallel parking between cars and pulling away again with full observation. Bay parking in a car park is worth a refresh too, especially if your new car is bigger than your last one. Parking sensors and cameras help, though we teach you to use your mirrors first so you never rely on technology alone.
The A1(M) runs along the edge of Tickhill and the M18 is a few miles north, so motorway practice is close at hand. We work on joining from the slip road at a speed that matches the traffic, settling into the left lane and overtaking safely. Leaving at the right exit gets just as much attention. One or two lessons are often enough to take the fear out of it. Read more on our motorway lessons and Pass Plus page.
Your first lesson starts with a conversation about your driving history and what worries you, then a drive on roads you choose. Our cars are dual controlled, which many returning drivers find reassuring. You can request a female instructor or a male instructor.
More detail is on our main refresher driving lessons page. If you have switched gearboxes, see automatic driving lessons in Tickhill. Drivers just over the railway can book refresher driving lessons in Rossington, and the Tickhill driving lessons page lists local pick-up points.

No. You already hold a full licence, so refresher lessons are simply about confidence and skill. There is no test and no minimum number of lessons. You decide when you feel ready to drive alone again.
Yes. The M18 is a few miles north of Tickhill, and we can plan a lesson that includes motorway driving once you are comfortable on faster A-roads. Many drivers find a single motorway lesson makes a real difference.
Most people start with the town centre and the country roads, because those differ most from city driving. A lesson might cover the Market Place, Stripe Road through Hesley and your regular route to work or the shops.
Refresher lessons are charged at our normal lesson rates. You can see current prices and block booking packages on our prices page, or call 07402 034084 to talk through what you need.
