Refresher driving lessons in Rossington are for full licence holders who want to feel at home behind the wheel again. You might not have driven for years, have just moved into one of the new homes at Pheasant Hill Park, or have swapped to a very different kind of car.
There is no test at the end and no fixed number of lessons. You decide what you want to work on, whether that is one lesson to try the motorway again or a short run of lessons to get back to daily driving.
If you learned to drive here before 2016, some of the main routes will be new to you. Great Yorkshire Way opened in two stages. The first, from Junction 3 of the M18 to the A638, opened in February 2016. The second, from the A638 out to the airport site, was finished in June 2018. The junction at Parrot's Corner was reworked as part of the same scheme.
The village itself has grown too. Up to 1,200 homes have been planned on the old colliery land, now Pheasant Hill Park, with newer streets such as Heatherfields Crescent off West End Lane. The iPort rail freight site has brought more lorries onto Great Yorkshire Way and Iport Avenue, and Doncaster Sheffield Airport has since closed.
Parrot's Corner. Here the A638 Bawtry Road meets Warning Tongue Lane, with Sheep Bridge Lane and Great Yorkshire Way joining close by. Traffic arrives here from every direction, which is why lane position and timing matter so much.
Junction 3 of the M18. The roundabout where Great Yorkshire Way meets the motorway and White Rose Way can be busy at peak times. We practise approaching in the right lane and reading the signs early.
Bawtry Road into Bessacarr. North of the M18 the A638 widens to a dual carriageway near Cantley Lane and runs on to the roundabout by the racecourse, a good stretch for getting used to faster town traffic again.
With the M18 only a few minutes from the village at Junction 3, Rossington is a handy base for motorway practice. We work on joining from the slip road at the right speed and keeping a safe gap. After that come lane discipline and planning your exit well before the junction. If you have avoided motorways for years, a single lesson can make a big difference. See motorway lessons and Pass Plus for more.
Your first lesson usually starts with a chat about what worries you, followed by a drive on roads you choose. Your instructor then suggests what to work on next. Lessons are in our dual controlled cars, so you can relax knowing the instructor can step in if needed.

Yes. If you have bought an automatic and your licence covers manual cars, a refresher in one of our automatic cars is a good way to get used to creep and brake control. If you hold an automatic-only licence, all your lessons will be in an automatic.
Yes. Many refresher lessons are simply about learning a new area. We can cover the school run near Bond Street and the level crossing on West End Lane. We can also drive Parrot's Corner and your own route to work, so you know what to expect before you set off alone.
Yes. You can request a female instructor or a male instructor when you book. Loredana, one of our co-founders, is especially good with drivers whose confidence has dropped after an incident.
