Already passed but not feeling confident? Refresher lessons in Warmsworth are for full licence holders who want help getting back on the road. With the A1(M) at the end of High Road, many of our refresher pupils here want to tackle the motorway with someone calm beside them.
All of these are common, and none of them mean you are a bad driver. A few lessons usually make a real difference.
Junction 36 of the A1(M) sits right on the edge of the village, so the motorway is never far away. That is handy for commuting, but it can feel daunting if you have avoided motorways for years. We start with the Junction 36 roundabout and its slip roads, then a short run on the A1(M) to the Wadworth Interchange at Junction 35, where it meets the M18.
Plenty of drivers find the slip roads at Junction 36 the hardest part, so we spend time there before going any further.
From there the M18 runs east past Junction 3 towards Junction 4. A lesson can cover joining and leaving, lane discipline, safe following distances and overtaking lorries, at whatever pace suits you. Our motorway lessons and Pass Plus page has more detail.
For drivers new to the area, a refresher lesson can simply be a guided tour. We drive the A630 east through Balby into the city, look at the junctions on High Road around Edlington Lane and Quaker Lane, and use Mill Lane at school times so you know what to expect. Knowing where the awkward spots are makes solo driving much less stressful.
Edlington Lane also leads south out of the village, and Sheffield Road runs west towards Conisbrough, so we can include whichever routes you will use most.
If an accident or near miss has shaken you, tell us what happened when you book. Your first lesson can stay on calm roads around Coldstream Avenue and Park Crescent while you get used to the feel of driving again. Later lessons can return to the type of road where the incident happened, so it stops being somewhere you avoid.
Many drivers book a refresher when they change to an automatic. A full manual licence already covers it, but creep, the parking brake and the missing clutch take some getting used to. One or two lessons on High Road and at the Junction 36 roundabout usually sort it out.
There is no set course. In the first lesson your instructor asks what you want to work on, watches you drive on quiet roads first, then suggests where to go next. You choose how many lessons to take and stop whenever you feel ready.

No. Refresher lessons are for people who already hold a full licence, so there is nothing to pass. They are simply time with an approved instructor to rebuild skills and confidence on the roads you choose.
We usually begin on quieter roads so your instructor can see how you are driving, then move on to the Junction 36 roundabout and the motorway. If you are already comfortable on main roads, that can happen within the first lesson.
Lessons are in our dual controlled cars, which are fully insured for tuition. You can choose a manual or an automatic. Once you feel confident, carrying the skills over to your own car is usually straightforward.
It depends on the gap since you last drove and what is worrying you. Some drivers book one or two lessons for the motorway, while others prefer a longer series. Your instructor will give you a frank opinion after the first session.
